May has been making clothes since she was barely old enough to hold scissors and thread. Her first clients were her childhood dolls! She used to watch her mother working with apparel and as soon she was old enough, she began working towards a career in dressmaking, taking night courses to become a proficient seamstress.
Her first job in the industry was at age 19, working for a large company as a cutter designer. Since then her career has been a mixture of working for herself and others in China and in New Zealand. When she arrived in New Zealand in 2006 she worked for Cambridge Clothing Co, and then Jessica Bridal and after opening her own botique, May’s Bridal & Fashion has since moved to the Manawatu, based in Palmerston North.
May’s lifelong experience in the garment industry has helped her develop a passion for designing and creating exquisite quality gowns. Customer satisfaction is her priority, and she’ll give each bride her total care and attention, to ensure that the big day is a wonderful and memorable event.
